SEND Teaching Assistant – Burton on Trent, Derbyshire
At SupplyGo, we're actively looking to recruit to fill an ongoing need for SEND Teaching Assistants. The school is based in Burton-on-Trent & caters for Children & Young Adults varying between the ages of 5-19. The learning difficulties that are present are Autism, ADHD, EBD, speech & language disorders, moderate & severe learning difficulties & other associated behavioural difficulties.
We are looking for people who are experienced in working as a Teaching Assistant or within Special Needs Care/Support roles with children & young adults from all walks of life. The most important thing we're looking for is that our applicants have a passion for helping those that are vulnerable and have additional needs. For those that aren't necessarily qualified, don't panic, full on-site training is provided!
All roles will be based at one location and won’t require additional travelling to different sites or locations. You will oversee the care for an individual child throughout the day, and will be an important part of the support network of the children in the dorm you will be working in. All children have 3 support workers, so you won’t be alone. You will be working alongside 2 other support assistants that work alternate shifts to yourself.
Teaching Assistant:
The Working hours are:
08.15am – 16.15pm Monday to Thursday
08.15am – 15.00pm on a Friday.
Term time only
2 Weeks off at May Half Term, 1 Week off at October Half Term & 1 month off in Summer.
You can take on additional hours in the Residential Support side to bulk up earnings. This is not an expectation.
You can work part-time in this role, not every applicant has to be full-time.
£12.86 per hour
Having direct experience is a bonus in a role like this but isn’t essential. You are required to be hard working, competent, pro-active and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children/young adults that have Special Needs & Learning Disabilities.
If you have previously worked within Care, Sports Coaching, Community Work, Learning Support or from a Residential Background, you have transferrable skills, and we want to hear from you! Please do apply.
You will receive a structured & comprehensive 3-week training programme in which you will be provided with the knowledge and information to succeed. The first week will be all about gaining in-house qualifications like health and safety and safeguarding training, and learning how the job will work in theory.
For weeks two and three you will be shadowing more senior experienced staff that will show you how to implement your training and introduce you to the children in your dorm. The idea is to bring you up to speed slowly whilst giving you the best training possible to ensure you do a good job.
You will be able to gain a whole host of qualifications whilst you do the job through the children's residential home and through us.
We have teamed up with a government backed & accredited training provider, that has a huge portfolio of qualifications on offer for you to choose from for free!
Examples of qualifications on offer for free whilst you work:
