Full-Time Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – Primary School SEND Provision
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

SupplyGo Education are currently recruiting a full-time Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a dedicated SEND provision based in a mainstream primary school in Chesterfield.

About the Role

This is a full-time position supporting pupils aged 4–11 years within the school’s SEND provision. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to support children with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.

This role offers consistency, routine, and the opportunity to build strong relationships with pupils and staff within one school setting.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • SEND or mainstream primary schools

  • Care or support work

  • Residential, elderly, or disability care

  • Youth work, coaching, or community support roles

Formal Teaching Assistant qualifications are not essential. We welcome applicants with strong transferable skills, a nurturing approach, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Please note: experience must be in a professional capacity rather than solely lived experience.

Working Hours

  • Full-Time: Monday to Friday

  • 08:30am – 3:30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils within the SEND provision on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation

  • Creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Supporting pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing

  • Promoting inclusion and positive social interaction

  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff

  • An understanding of individual learning needs and differences
