Primary School – Specialist SEND Hub
Hours: 08:30am–15:30pm (Monday to Friday)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND hub within a mainstream primary school. This full-time, long-term position involves supporting pupils across mixed year groups (Y1 to Y6) who present with complex SEND needs and challenging behaviours.
This is a rewarding but highly demanding role, ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference to children with additional needs and who thrives in a supportive, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND and behavioural needs
Assist with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities
Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and pastoral care
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCo, and external professionals
Maintain consistent routines and a calm, purposeful learning environment
Assist with daily classroom tasks and safeguarding responsibilities
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with SEND pupils (especially complex needs and behaviour)
Confident, calm, and able to de-escalate challenging situations
Adaptable and resilient, with strong relationship-building skills
Knowledge of EHCPs, behaviour strategies, or therapeutic approaches is an advantage
A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners
