Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: DE24 Derby
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 am - 12:45 pm (20 hours per week)
Contract: Fixed-term for one academic year, with the potential for extension
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey by supporting their learning, communication, social development, and overall wellbeing within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent one-to-one support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD throughout the school morning.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies and support plans.
Encourage the pupil's independence, engagement, and participation in classroom activities.
Support communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour using agreed strategies.
Assist with personal care, including
nappy changing, while maintaining the child's dignity, privacy, and wellbeing at all times.
Build positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and parents/carers where appropriate.
Contribute to observations and feedback regarding the pupil's progress.
