​1:1 Teaching Assistant at a Primary School

Hours:Monday, Thursday and Friday (term time only)
Contract:Permanent (subject to satisfactory probation)
Location:Eyam

This Primary School is seeking a caring, patient and dedicated1:1 Teaching Assistantto join our friendly and supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a wonderful Year 2 pupil, supporting them to access learning, develop communication and thrive within our inclusive school environment.

The successful candidate will provide individual support to a non-verbal child throughout the school day, working in partnership with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to meet the child's individual needs.

The role will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support in the classroom and around the school.

  • Supporting the pupil's communication using appropriate strategies and resources.

  • Encouraging independence, engagement and participation in learning and play.

  • Assisting with personal care, including nappy changing, while maintaining the child's dignity and wellbeing.

  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil and their family.

  • Working collaboratively with school staff and other professionals.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is kind, compassionate and patient.

  • Has experience of supporting children with additional needs (desirable but not essential).

  • Is confident supporting a non-verbal child or is willing to learn effective communication approaches.

  • Is comfortable providing personal care, including nappy changing.

  • Has excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Is reliable, flexible and committed to helping every child reach their potential.
